Heading into Sunday's Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, we previewed seven potential record-breakers looking to make history in everything from running while juggling to marathoning in full firefighting gear.
And while the cold and windy conditions kept some of the times from the world class division slower than expected, it didn't stop five of the seven Guinness World Records attempters from establishing new marks or breaking exisiting ones on race day.
Here's a look at the five record successes.
Fastest half marathon joggling three objects
Michal Kapral added to his growing list of records with a time of 1 hr 20 min 40 sec during the half marathon portion of the race. That follows the current records he holds for the fastest marathon (2 hr 50 min 12 sec) and fastest 10K (36 min 27 sec) joggling three objects.
Fastest half marathon in superhero uniform
In the battle between The Flash and Superman, we have an answer for who's faster. Stephane Hetherington clocked in a blistering time of 1 hr 17 min 30 sec to outduel fellow competitor John Scott Clarke for the new record.
Fastest marathon in firefighter uniform (female)
Lindsay Santagato, a volunteer firefighter running in memory of her late brother, crossed the finish line victorious after enduring one of the most grueling marathon records GWR has to offer, keeping a full firefighting uniform on for all 26.2 miles.
Fastest marathon in baseball uniform
Representing the host city of Toronto, Jeremiah Sacay rocked this Blue Jays uniform and finished in under 4 hours to establish a new record in the category.
Fastest marathon dressed as a zookeeper
Looking ready to tame wild animals, Bridget broke this record while also carrying around a bag of stuffed animals to give out to spectators along the course.
Of course, it wasn't just the Guinness World Records title-holders who walked away winners at the STWM. Our congratulations go out to all those who finished the race, and to all those who - like the record holders above - ran for special causes and helped raise awareness and funds.
Race organizers tweeted after the event that more than 173 charities had seen millions of dollars raised on the day.
And the best news is that, for anyone inspired by Michal, Stephane, Linsday, Jeremiah, or Bridget, registration for the 2015 STWM is already open! Our official adjudicators can't wait to see you at the finish line next year.
